For those who are not familiar with the French usages, please note that, "Jean" is a male given name in France which should be translated into "John".
The equivalent given name for the English "Jean" is "Jeanne" in French.
Compound given names such as "Jean-Luc" are common in France. My given name should be translated into something like "John-Lucas".
